So I Already Fail… but I’ll Try Harder

23 11 2009

Okay… so this is my first and already  it’s a failure. The reason I say that is because I’ve already inhaled breakfast and have no pictures. I’ve been reading everyone else’s health and fitness blogs for about 2 months though and I’ve been dyingggggg to start one of my own. However, biology, chemistry, my two other classes, work, training, and school activities have pretty much taken over my life, so blogging I figured I’d wait until break to begin. I have one more paper technically to turn in… but I’m almost done and I’m stuck at school working until Tuesday night so I’d figure I’d start now!

A little background information about be…

I’m 19.

I’m a sophomore in college.

I’m a pyscho AKA a bio major.

I’m also an old soul, according to my mother. I work out first thing in the morning (meaning I get up at 6:00 or 6:30am to hit the gym before classes. Then I’m pretty much at school or work all day. I come home study, hangout, and go to bed by 10:30 or 11:00pm. Yep, for a college kid, I’m weird.

I’m finally at a point in my life where fitness is key to me. I’m not working out to loose weight, but rather I care about my runs and their qualities. I workout because I focus better in class, I feel more energized and confident. Sure the day after Thanksgiving, I’ll probably spend an extra 10 minutes on the treadmill or pretty much after any indulgent meal, but I’ve learned a lot in my past, that skinny isn’t fit.

I ran my first half marathon in August 2009, and I finished in 1:57:15! I was going for 2:10:00, so I surprise myself. I’ve also run numerous 5ks, and also ran my first 15K November 1st, 2009 and finished 2 minutes ahead of my goal! I came in at 1:18:02 whereas my goal was 1:20:00!

Its very comforting to me to know that there are groups of young women who care about their fitness and their bodies, but still ENJOY LIFE!! I’m not a huge partier, but I do love to go out with friends, maybe a couple drinks and call it a night. I’m not one for keg stands, seeing who can blackout first, and any other typical college drinking things. I had my typical college experience freshmen year and its just not my scene. I like to be in control of my body and one I’m not I get really scared. All of you inspire me and keep me going when I don’t want to whittle my middle or go for a run.

Thanks for being there and now I hope to be apart of it! Until later…

Meg

P.S. Chocolate fondue should be apart of every post race celebration! 15K 2009
